Before You Move Serious Funds

Most catastrophic losses happen in the sixty seconds before a large transaction, when confidence is high and attention is low. This is the checklist to slow that moment down. Run it every time the number is big.

Confirm the destination

I obtained the destination address from a source I trust, not from a pasted value in my clipboard or recent history.
I verified the full address, including the middle characters, against that trusted source.
I sent a small test amount first and confirmed it arrived at the right place.

Confirm the context

Nobody is rushing me, and no countdown or deadline is driving this transaction.
This action was initiated by me, not in response to an unsolicited message, call, or 'support' request.
If anyone asked me to do this, I confirmed it with them through a separate channel I opened myself.

Confirm the approval

I am reading the transaction details on my hardware wallet's own screen, not only on my computer.
I understand what this transaction does, including any token approval or permission it grants.
If anything on the screen does not match what I expect, I reject it and start over.
